There is a hymn which we sing at the Office during Passiontide, with the first line ‘Thirty years among us dwelling’. That is not so for Father Abbot, for he arrived in the house in 1967. However, 18 July 1986 saw his ordination to the Sacred Priesthood. The crafty fellow booked his monthly day off for his anniversary; so we took the opportunity to thank him at the Conventual Mass this morning for all the graces received at his priestly hands during the last thirty years . . . . and we look forward in hope to many more years of Abbot Giles’s faithful ministry.
The body of Dom Nicholas will be received into the Abbey Church at 4.00 p.m. on Tuesday 2 August 2016, in the context of Evening Prayer for the Dead.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday 3 August 2016.
Abbot Giles asks that those who intend to be present for the Funeral Mass should let him know beforehand.

It’s a fantastic program.
Our Oblate was given the Freedom of the City of London today, alongside his brother Laurence (in verger’s kit). Congratulations to them both.
Many of our friends will recognise the lady seen in this picture with her husband Cesar. For fifteen and a half years, Barbra Cotelo Gomez has worked at the Abbey, firstly in the Wafer Bakery, and more recently in the Kitchen and Guesthouse. Today was her last day at work with us. Please join us in wishing her well as she moves on to pastures new, with different challenges. Thank you, Barbra, for all you have been for us.
