Alton Abbey Open Gardens 7th & 8th June
After a few years gap, on 7th & 8th June FOAA held their ever-popular open garden weekend at the Abbey with the kind permission of Abbot Giles.
This was a wonderful opportunity for Friends and newcomers alike to visit the Abbey, meet the Community, stroll around the grounds and take in the atmosphere both outside and also in the Abbey church.
There were plants, Palestinian products and second-hand books for sale. Susan & Richard Allshorn demonstrated and sold Abbey incense, along with Richard’s lovely wood turning. Jean Eke displayed her beautiful lace and Dom Anselm showed us his iconography. Most importantly, there were reviving tea and cakes on offer.
It was a most enjoyable and successful occasion and many thanks go to all the helpers and of course to the Abbot and Community for allowing us to hold this event which has raised valuable funds to support the Abbey.
