A Plea from the Bursar

Firstly I would like to thank you all, on behalf of the Abbot and Community, for your continued support of the Abbey and its works.

Many of you will know that that HMRC have tightened the rules governing gift aid. Gift Aid is an important source of revenue to the Abbey and we want to make sure that we both maximise its benefits and adhere strictly to the new rules. Continue reading A Plea from the Bursar

Requests for Prayers

“I appeal to you brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers on my behalf.” (Romans 15:30)

Prayer is our Life and our work here at Alton Abbey, and we welcome the opportunity to pray for your intentions and needs as you make them known to us.

Please follow the link above with your intentions, they need not be long and complicated. God knows all the details.

The brethren here at Alton would be very happy to include your living or deceased family or friends in our daily prayer.

Please pray for us also. Thank you.

Welcome

My brothers at Alton Abbey and I welcome you to this website. Through all the aspects of information technology, Anglican monastic and religious life has ceased to be what a former Archbishop of Canterbury referred to as ‘the best-kept secret of the Church of England’. Since the traditional communities are a fragile treasure in the Lord’s storehouse, we are greatly heartened by the interest evinced by those who express their concern or curiosity by electronic means having learnt something of our activities through the internet. It is our hope that the information you find on this site, and any other contact you may have with us, shall enrich your insight into the monastic life, and enhance your own faith journey. May God aid and bless us all.
+Giles Hill O.S.B. abbot.
